
Detlef Reimers was born in Lüneburg in 1958. He studied with Prof. H. Raasch in Hamburg and H. Fadle in Lübeck and while still a student began to gain experience in the field of contemporary music, playing with the renowned Hamburg chamber ensembles, Hinz und Kunst and l’art pour l’art. From 1981 to 1987 he held the position of solo trombone in the Philharmonische Staatsorchester, Bremen. Since 1987, after becoming aware of the endless possibilities for the trombone in the music of the 16th and 17th centuries, he has specialized in the performance of early music on historical instruments, playing renaissance, classical and romantic trombone in many concerts and radio recordings, as well as c.50 CD productions with specialized ensembles such as Musica Fiata, Concerto Köln, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Capella Coloniensis, Freiburger Baroque Orchestra, Weserrenaissance Bremen, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble and many others. Detlef Reimers has held a teaching position for trombone and brass chamber music at the Musikhochschule in Münster/Westphalia since 2000.
